Johan Tahon on the award:
Men
The sculpture represents the human figure. Man always had the urge to represent himself.
Fetish
The figure can be seen as a fertility sculpture. You can easily recognize the phallic shape. I love to use this primitive kind of symbolism today and to turn object into fetishes.
Concentrate
A good sculpture of work of art is some kind of concentrate. The spectator must be triggered to make as many associations as possible. The sculpture has become a concentration of different symbols.
Object
It's an ancient old tradition give an object to the winner. I truly believe this primitive use will never disappear and that tangible objects will always keep their value.
